Furniture

Furniture design

As a modernist, De Winter took a complete approach, including interior design. Furniture formed an interesting facet of De Winter's work that translated his architectural principles on a smaller scale.

De Winter's work combines functionality and design. His designs are characterised by a combination of clean lines and refined details.

Originally intended as unique pieces for specific projects, these designs reflect the same attention to detail and craftsmanship that characterise his buildings. Several of them are still in continuous use by successive generations, attesting to their enduring quality.

Evolution

In the 1950s, furniture was designed according to a specific project. Towards the end of the 1950s, De Winter also began to draw autonomous furniture that was not tied to specific building projects. They fit into the 1960s style of De Winter's work.

Contemporary context - De Winter Design

In 2025, his work takes a new turn through an initiative by his grandson Jan De Winter. With the creation of De Winter Design, the furniture designs, previously preserved only in archives and private collections, will be released freely for the first time for lovers of timeless design with a special story. This production offers a current and tangible connection to De Winter's work, carefully translating the original designs to contemporary standards.
